about us
Our work sits between architecture and craft. We design buildings, interiors and landscapes, but we also produce objects — fragments of architecture translated into cast plaster, ceramics and textiles. These works allow us to explore materiality and detail at an intimate scale while remaining connected to the larger ideas that shape our buildings.
We draw inspiration from traditions of craftsmanship and architecture that prioritise atmosphere, proportion and material honesty.
Alongside our design work, the studio hosts community workshops and creative events that invite people to engage with craft, heritage and making in a relaxed and accessible setting.
Studio Ruh is intentionally a small, design-led practice. We believe that careful thinking, craftsmanship and attention to detail are best achieved in an environment where architecture is approached with patience and care.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Architecture has the power to shape how we feel, how we gather, and how we understand the world around us. At Studio Ruh, we believe that buildings and objects should possess a sense of life — something that resonates beyond function or form.
We draw inspiration from traditions of craftsmanship and architecture that prioritise atmosphere, proportion and material honesty.
Materiality plays a central role in our design process. We believe that the character of a building emerges through its materials, construction and detailing. By working closely with craftsmen, builders and fabricators, we seek to create architecture that feels tactile, enduring and deeply rooted in its context.
Whether designing a private home, a housing development, a community building, a public space or a handcrafted object, our aim remains the same:
To create work with presence, integrity and soul.
OUR name
The word RUH means soul or spirit. It reflects our belief that architecture should do more than shelter; it should awaken something within those who encounter it. Through careful attention to proportion, light, material and craft, we seek to create spaces that feel grounded, contemplative and enduring.
